The High School rodeo season began last weekend in Swan River and Madison McGee finished first of over 20 competitors in the barrel racing event. Madison is only in Gr. 9 and has three more years to compete in this category. She also finished in the top 10 in the pole bending and goat tying events. She participates in Russell this weekend.

  The high school boys baseball team went 2-1 this past week. They defeated Reston/Elkhorn 17-5 and Virden 8-4 but lost 7-1 to Killarney/Wawanesa. Jessie Skelton pitched 4 shutout innings and went 5 for 5 in the Reston/Elkhorn game. Kadin Nestibo had 7 strikeouts in 5 innings to get the victory over Virden.

  The Colts had only four hits in their loss to Wawanesa/Killarney. The winning pitcher from Wawanesa was Connor Cory – grandson of Raymond and Donna Todd (Michelle’s son).

  Last week asked what former Deloraine Royal resembled current Blue Jay Vlad Guerrero Jr. The answer is “The Scoop” Lorne Sambrook from the late 70’s. What the similarities are were not stated by the former Royals ‘coach.

  I watch an average of two minutes of basketball all year. This week asks who has sank the most baskets in this year’s viewing? Hint – it bounced  three times before going in.
