The hockey season has ended for more players from the area. The Dauphin Kings (Grady Hobbs), Southwest Cougars, and Univ. of Western Michigan (Andy Murray) have been eliminated from playoffs since last week. The teams still in action include the Westman Wildcats, Yorkton Terriers (Quinn Hobbs), University of Central Oklahoma (Nial Mills), Minot State (Haley Wickham) and Virden Oil Capitals (McCullough Park). Nial and Haley are both competing in the American Collegiate Hockey Assoc. National Championship in Trisco, Texas. Central Oklahoma are ranked 10th in the Men's tourney and Minot are #1 in the west in the women's competition.
Don Williams lost in the provincial Semi-finals of the Masters curling with Dale Brooks of Hamiota last weekend. They won their pool, but lost to eventual winners Gord McTavish.
Liza Park’s curling team of Meaghan Astle, Kristy Park and Megan Vandenberghe were 3-2 in their pool at the Women’s Curling Club Championships (formerly the Traveler’s Cup) in Winnipeg. They finished just out of the playoffs.
