We hope the new Concert Season being presented by Southwest Showcase Inc. will have something for everyone. Due to increased costs of presenting top notch entertainment, our ticket prices are being increased to continue with six shows. OCTOBER 10, 2018, we will be entertained by a Roots, Swing, Acoustic husband and wife duo, Craig Bignell and Suzanne Levesque, who call themselves “Over The Moon”. They are both award-winning instrumentalist and vocalists whose voices blend so well. You may recognize Suzanne from her work with the Travelling Mabels. Craig, for many years was musical director for Susan Aglukark, while honing his skills. Their music is a mix of 40’s sounding western swing and Appalachian old-time cowboy blues. Living on a ranch in the Alberta foothills has influenced their sound.
NOVEMBER 5, 2018, will be a fun evening and a departure from the standard as we present comedy pianist Sarah Hagen. Sarah premiered her one-woman musical comedy show to critical acclaim touring Canadian fringe festivals. “Perk up Pianist” tells the tale of a touring classical musician remaining optimistic in the midst of challenging and ridiculous situations. As a classical performer, she performed solo at New York’s Carnegie Hall as well as collaborating with many classical artist in concert and with Symphony Orchestras.
DECEMBER 9, 2018, we will see the return of a Manitoba-born artist who performed to a very small audience during one of our very bitterly cold January nights a couple of years ago. We felt he deserved a second show to WOW our patrons. He will be bringing his Motown Christmas Show to town to get us in the spirit of the holiday season. Luke is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, who has written and recorded with many Motown Legends.
JANUARY 13, 2019, THE MIDDLE COAST, a Manitoba trio who draw on influences from the Guess Who, the Eagles, Hall & Oates, among others to cement their signature sound. Members Liam Duncan, Dylan MacDonald and Roman Clarke are great friends and great musicians whose chemistry is magical and impressive and who will have us feeling right at home. You may recall the talents of Dylan and Roman from the Buddy Holly Story.
FEBRUARY 19, 2019, the ROYAL MANITOBA THEATRE CENTGRE will once again make a stop in our theatre, presenting the production of “Buying The Farm”. The story goes, “Magnus Bjornson is a sixty-something down-to-earth bachelor who has worked on his family farm all his life. His smart-as-a-whip niece, Esme Van Fossen, has been helping her great-uncle for the past four months, but when issues arise things go awry. Magnus’s health takes a turn, his finances are out of sorts and there’s a real estate developer ready to make an offer. Watch this delightfully comedic story unfold and embrace life’s inevitable changes amongst the cows and chickens.” MTS is always a highlight of our season.
MARCH 10, 2019, will again feature a Manitoba artist. DON AMERO, is an engaging storyteller, songwriter and performer who has bene touring across Canada for over 10 years. With five albums to his credit and numerous nominations and wards, Don has won he respect the Canadian Music Industry. With powerful vocals, a lovable stage presence and soulful sound, he will genuinely connect with us with ease and charm.
Ticket sale date is Wednesday, September 5 at the Deloraine-Winchester Theatre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Season ticket membership is $100.00 for Adults and $60.00 for students for six shows.
