Diane Hart gave the Treasurer’s Report. Chequing account - $3295.19 and Savings -$5281.25. Group Insurance commissions were $18.20 for the month. The report was accepted as presented.

BUSINESS ARISING:

            • Memberships – Jaydra presented a membership package ready to deliver. She will try to hand deliver most of them and mail the remainder.

            • Passport to Win – The goal of this promotion is to get as many people as possible to shop locally. There will be four draws of $125 – November 29, December 6, 13 & 20 and also a grand prize of $500 draw on the 20th. The money will be in a Chamber bucks voucher. Passports can be entered at the Municipal Office, Hasselfield Drugs  and Simplicity Clothing & Accessories.

The Passport will have four squares to stamp. The idea was to get as much of the community involved as possible. If you make a purchase at a retail, home business, get repairs, restaurant, food donation (Christmas Cheer/Food Cupboard), attend a community event – ask for a stamp or signature from someone in charge. The squares will include:

  1. Home Based/Retail Business
  2. Fuel/Repair Shop
  3. Restaurant/Food Donation
  4. Community Event/Public Engagement

An ad will be placed in the Deloraine Times as well as Boissevain Recorder’s wide circulation.

OLD BUSINESS:

• Pumpkin Walk – no report was available but by all accounts it was a very successful evening – well attended, nice weather.

• Deloween — Holly Smith reported it was a very busy weekend for Station X – Nightmare Factory and that they raised enough money to hold it again next year. She said the majority of the people going through the haunt were from out of town.

            • The Scavenger Hunt was again a lot of fun but had fewer entries than last year. Next year this portion will be the responsibility of the Chamber. 1st Darren Maddess; 2nd Stacey Robidoux and 3rd Pat Bell.

•Home Decorating contest: 1st Wendy & Anna Mitchler and James; 2nd Tracey Mann.

            • Mini Kids’ Haunt — This took place at the Municipal chambers and Jennifer McMechan reported at least 60 kids went through — may more than once because they liked it so much.

REPORTS

Municipality of Deloraine-Winchester (Debbie Adams, Councillor)

Debbie reported that Council is working on Strategic Planning and goal setting for the future. There will be more emphasis on Economic Development. She also said the old Bargain Store now belongs to the Municipality. If you have any ideas as to what this space can be used for, you are encouraged to contact any member of the council. A question was raised about the state of the Bargain Store’s foundation and water damage, etc. Debbie said they had a contractor go through the building and he assured council the water problem is rectified, the structure is sound, there are no leaks and no mold.

The next meeting will be December 4, 2019 at Hoysun Chinese Restaurant.
